  Q & A

Q. Does Lake Pointe offer professional counseling and, if so, how do I make an appointment?
A. Lake Pointe Church has a professional counseling center on campus that employs eleven licensed professional counselors. Appointments are available day and evening. Call 469-698-2250 to make an appointment. View list of counselors

Q. What issues are addressed through counseling?
A. They include (but are not limited to): any relationship issues involving marriage, divorce, step-family, single parent, and parenting plus those issues effecting individuals such as depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, addiction, and codependency recovery, and abuse recovery. All of the above also have a spiritual dimension, which is addressed as a major part of the helping process.

Q. What age groups are addressed?
A. Adults, adolescents, and children.

Q. Are your services for church members only?
A. No, all of our care giving services are available to both the church community and the Lake Ray Hubbard community at large.

Q. Is there a fee for professional counseling?
A. In order to provide high-quality professional care, a fee is necessary. Our hourly fee of $75 per counseling hour is as low as one can find for masters and doctoral degreed, licensed counselors. More importantly, no member is ever turned away due to an inability to pay. A counseling benevolence fund is maintained to insure that everyone has access to competent, Christ-centered care.

Q. What supportive groups are offered and when do they start?
A. The Family and Personal Enrichment ministries offer discovery, support and recovery groups for adults, groups for children, and adolescent group mentoring. There are two types of groups offered: time-limited and ongoing. Time-limited groups are offered starting in September and January / February of each year. Ongoing groups run year-round.

A Family and Personal Enrichment brochure is sent out to everyone on the church mailing list twice a year before the groups begin. Upcoming groups are also advertised in the church newsletter and in local newspapers. To inquire about specific start dates, call 469-698-2250.

Q. What kinds of help are available for marriages?
A. Choose from several helpful resources: seminars, couples groups, professional marriage counseling, and a variety of groups related to pre or post divorce. To inquire further, call 469-698-2250.

Q. What opportunities exist for lay persons who want to serve in a care-giving ministry?
A. Most of the care-giving done at Lake Pointe Church is done by lay care-givers. Called, caring and trained lay persons serve as group facilitators of supportive groups, as one-on-one care-givers in our Stephen Ministry, and as mentors for adults and children. Call 469-698-2250 for current opportunities to serve.

Q. What gifts and personal characteristics are required to serve as a lay care-giver?
A. We look for warm, genuine folks who love God and love people. They must be mature in their faith, have good people skills and healthy boundaries. Spiritual gifts of service, mercy, hospitality, wisdom, discernment, faith, encouragement, and leadership are all useful in these ministries.
